NBA Three at 3: Best Bets for Tuesday, January 18

There's only two games on the NBA schedule for Tuesday night, but we're still looking to dish out three winners! With that said, keep reading for our best bets on tonight's NBA TV doubleheader that features the New York Knicks hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Detroit Pistons facing the Golden State Warriors:

1. Minnesota Timberwolves at New York Knicks - 7:30 p.m. ET:

The Timberwolves have won five of their last seven games and they just so happen to be coming off one of their best wins of the season. Minnesota was a 4.5-point favorite against Golden State on Sunday and the team ended up earning a 119-99 victory. This is a very underrated basketball team at the moment, and there's a real chance that the Wolves make the playoffs without having to go through the play-in tournament. That's something that needs to be noted when factoring in that they're facing a Knicks team that is not very good this season. New York has also won five of its last seven games coming into this one, but those wins came against some mediocre opponents. The Knicks then went out and lost at home to the Hornets without LaMelo Ball on Monday afternoon. That loss showed New York's true colors and the team is going to be in trouble against Minnesota here. The Timberwolves are just far too talented for the Knicks, with guys like Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns and D'Angelo Russell all being better than anything New York has to offer. And unlike the last couple of years, this Minnesota team plays the right way now. The Timberwolves are also 10-7 against the spread in games with lines of +3 to -3 this season. At the same time, the Knicks are 6-11 straight-up and 7-10 against the spread as underdogs this year.

As for the total in this game, it's worth noting that the Over is 15-6 in Timberwolves road games this season. The average total points scored in those contests was 229.3 points per game. The over is also 8-1 when Minnesota is playing on the road after having allowed 105 points or less in its previous game this year. On top of that, the Over has hit in four of the last five games the Timberwolves have played.

THE PICKS: Timberwolves -2.5 AND Over 213.5

2. Detroit Pistons at Golden State Warriors - 10:00 p.m. ET:

The Warriors are massive favorites in this meeting with the Pistons making it hard to confidently say that Golden State will be able to cover in this one. This should, however, be a game that ends up being a bit higher scoring than the oddsmakers think. The Warriors might be struggling a bit without Draymond Green, but this team still has Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and a number of other capable scorers. With that in mind, it's hard to imagine them having too much trouble running up the score in a meeting with a Pistons team that struggles on the defensive end. As for Detroit, the team should also be able to put up a decent number of points against a Draymond-less Golden State. He's one of the best defenders in the history of the game and the Warriors are just not the same without him on the defensive end. There's a reason the Over has hit in three of the last four Golden State games. The Over is also 3-1 in the last four Detroit games.

THE PICK: Over 217.5
