MLB Best Bets for Tuesday, June 14

Moneyline: San Diego Padres (-124)

The Padres have made the NL West interesting early despite the absence of star slugger Fernando Tatis. At 38-24, San Diego is second in the NL in wins, representing one of the best teams in the league this season. After picking up a 4-1 victory last night behind a great performance from Yu Darvish, the Pads will come into this one with the advantage on the bump once again.

Sean Manaea should outpitch Kyle Hendricks here, while receiving the necessary run support to earn his 4th win of the season. San Diego’s team total of o5.5 (-109) looks appealing as well, as they will be guaranteed nine innings of offense.

Run Line: Toronto Blue Jays -1.5 (-108)

The Blue Jays have found consistency, and they look like contenders in the annually crowded AL East early. Each of their eight wins this month have resulted in covers and blowouts, with only one of them decided by less than five runs.

Toronto’s clicking right now, and they're on one of those “runs”. After clobbering Baltimore 11-1 last nite at home, I’ll be backing them again here to cover.

Upset: Minnesota Twins ML (+102)

We’re going to run it back with Minnesota again this evening. Seattle will be sending ace of staff Logan Gilbert (6-2, 2.41 ERA, 70K)  to the mound, but the Twins will trot out Joe Ryan (5-2, 2.28 ERA, 42 Ks) , who’s on pace to record double-digit wins in just his first full season.

The Twins have the lineup to give Gilbert trouble, and he’s allowed three or more in five of his past seven starts. From Luis Arraez, to Jorge Polanco, to Carlos Correa, Minnesota will be enticing everytime as underdog this season. The Twins team total of o3.5 (-103) also looks like an appealing late-night ride.

Totals: LA Angels/LA Dodgers o9 (+102)

What better way to end the night with an over from the Freeway Series. Both starters have had their moments this season, with Dodgers starter Tony Gonsolin enjoying a breakout season. Angels pitcher Noah Syndergaard has been a shell of himself at times this year, but his last two road starts have been alarming, failing to make it to the third inning in both outings.

The Dodgers have one of the best lineups in baseball per usual, while the Angels carry two of the best players in the league, and a solid supporting cast. The Angels recent slump was alarming, but the Dodgers can handle the heavy lifting here. With the insurance of a push, I like this spot for the late slate.

Strikeouts: Sean Manaea, SD - o5.5 (-134)

Sean Manaea was one of the best strikeout pitchers in baseball last season, and a move from Oakland down south to San Diego hasn’t changed that. Manaea has been consistent on the bag this season, striking out five or more in nine of his last ten starts. The fifth-year pitcher is coming off of a season-low three strikeouts against the Mets, but he did earn the win, and he feels like a safe bet to bounce back here against an inconsistent Cubs team.

Strikeouts: Adrian Houser, MIL - o5.5 (+100)

Betting against a potent Mets lineup could be risky, but Milwaukee starter Adrian Houser finds himself in a very manageable position, prop wise. The fifth-year pitcher has hit this number in four of his last five starts, and six of his last eight. This one will come down to a matter of swings and misses, but it’s a promising spot.
