June 24 MLB Betting Preview: Best Bets for the Day of Action

New York Mets (45-26, 1st NL East) at Miami Marlins (32-26, 4th NL East)

This may seem like a trap bet game, as Miami is favored at -140. Miami has won three in a row four of their last five. Miami also sends out Cy Young candidate Sandy Alcantara (7-2, 1.72 ERA), which is another reason why they’re the favorites. New York counters with Taijuan Walker (5-2, 2.88 ERA). New York is the far better team, despite Miami’s recent success. New York comes in having lost two in a row but has yet to lose three games in a row this year. Alcantara has been great this year and pitched well against New York last time out, striking out eight in eight innings. With that being said, New York has one of the best offenses in the league and given that they’ve seen Alcantara already, they should fare better tonight.

The Pick: New York ML (+130)

Houston Astros (43-26, 1st AL West) at New York Yankees (52-18, 1st AL East)

New York is off to one of the best starts in Major League history and favored at -125 in tonight’s contest. They were the first team to 50 wins and stole one from Houston last night on a walk off single by Aaron Judge. Houston sends out Justin Verlander (8-3, 2.30 ERA) tonight and New York will send out Luis Severino (4-1, 3.27). With the bad blood between these two teams, every time they play it’s a must watch. New York’s offense is on a historic pace, led by Aaron Judge who leads all of baseball with 27 homers. However, Houston is no slouch themselves, as Yordan Alvarez is hitting .317 with 22 homers. They also find themselves atop the AL West, a division that Los Angeles was supposed to run away with. Justin Verlander has been spectacular coming off Tommy John Surgery. He’s the main reason for fading New York in this one, especially since Houston will want to avenge last night’s loss.

The Pick: Houston ML (+115)

Boston Red Sox (39-31, 3rd AL East) at Cleveland Guardians (36-29, 1st AL Central)

The Minnesota Twins had a stranglehold on the AL Central up until last week when Cleveland took control. Cleveland has won 18 of their last 25 games, with spurts of four game winning streaks along the way. They’ll send out Cal Quantrill (4-4, 3.77) and Boston will send out Nick Pivetta (7-5, 3.31 ERA). Boston is also favored in this one at -120. It’s been a pretty pedestrian season for Boston so far, as it’s hard to contend with the 52-win Yankees and keep up with the Toronto Blue Jays. However, they’ve won four in a row, albeit three games against the Detroit Tigers. Cleveland  is 16-10 in home games this year and 21-15 as the underdog, giving them the slight edge in this one.

The Pick: Cleveland ML (+110)
