July 9 MLB Betting Preview: Best Bets for the Day of Action

All 30 teams are set to play in today’s MLB action, so let’s take a look at some of the best bets for today's slate.

Yankees Moneyline (-150)

The Yankees Red Sox rivalry is always a fun one to watch, but it’s not secret that this season the Yankees are clearly the better team. Both teams boast some impressive bats in their lineup, but the pitching for Boston has been almost non existent recently due to injuries, while the Yanks’ rotation is going strong. Jordan Montgomery (3-2, 3.19 ERA) will take the hill for the Yankees tonight while Kutter Crawford (2-2, 5.04 ERA) will get the start for Boston. The Yankee offense has been red hot over the past week or so. Over the past three games their hitting over .333 as a team. This streak has happened before, and New York has an impressive 6-1 record when their bats hit over that .333 mark in a three game stretch. Last night they put twelve runs in the board in Fenway, so expect the Bombers to come out hot again tonight to capture the W.

Orioles Moneyline +105

A bit of a riskier pick here, but Baltimore has been playing some red hot baseball. The exciting young team has three walk off wins in their last five games. The O’s also love playing day games at home this season, with a straight up record of 11-1 in those games. The Angels have been struggling mightily since their impressive start, which should give Baltimore the advantage. Patrick Sandoval (3-3, 3.09 ERA) will start for the Angels, while Dean Kremer (2-1, 2.48 ERA) is on the bump for the Orioles. Momentum is one of the most important factors in winning baseball games, and the Orioles are getting hot at the right time, while the Angels are still cold. Take the Orioles to win again today at home against the Angels.

Dodgers Spread (-1.5 -120)

The Dodgers will host the Cubs in LA tonight in a matchup that sees arguably the best team in the NL facing off against the worst. Ace Clayton Kershaw (5-2, 2.57 ERA) will get the start for Los Angeles while Marcus Stroman (2-5, 5.32 ERA) will start for Chicago. Kershaw’s ability to keep the all inside the park will come particularly in handy tonight, as the Cubs are 8-17 straight up when facing a pitcher who gives up 0.5 or less home runs per start this season. Not only are the Dodgers the superior squad on paper, but the stats are in the favor as well for this Saturday night matchup. Take the Dodgers to cover the spread at home tonight against the Cubs.
