July 22 MLB Betting Preview: Best Bets for the Day of Action

With fourteen games in action on this Friday’s slate let’s take a look at some of the best bets to ride with.

1.Yankees Moneyline (-150)

The Yankees head to Baltimore after dropping both games of a double header against Houston yesterday. Jameson Taillon (10-2, 3.86 ERA) will take the mound for New York against Tyler Wells (7-5, 3.38 ERA). The Yankees are due for a big offensive day as they’ll hope to catch the Orioles sleeping in their first game back from the break. Baltimore was playing red hot baseball before the break, and whether or not they’ll continue that streak tonight against the leader of their division is the big question of this two game series. The Yankee bats were red hot before the break too, and with Judge and Torres homering last night, expect more production from them and the rest of the Bombers’ squad here tonight to take home the win.

2.Cardinals Moneyline (-155)

The Cardinals have been a very consistent team this season, while the Reds have been at the bottom of the league’s standings since the season started. Adam Wainwright (6-7, 3.00 ERA) will start for St. Louis while Graham Ashcraft (4-2, 4.45 ERA) takes the hill for Cincinnati. The Cardinals pitching and defense has allowed under four runs per game on the season. The Reds happen to be 6-21 against teams this season who allow less than four runs per game, falling right into the Cardinals hand. The Reds also have a team average below .245, and the Cardinals are 33-19 against teams that fit into that category. The Cardinals are clearly the better team, and the stats lean their way as well to capture the W tonight.

3. Mets Moneyline (-175)

A battle of the aces takes place tonight in Queens as Yu Darvish (8-4, 3.41 ERA) and the Padres face off against Max Scherzer (6-1, 2.22 ERA) and the Mets. The Padres have been missing arguably their best player in Fernando Tatis Jr. all season which has hurt their team average and on base percentage. San Diego’s team OBP. This season it is below .325, and when the Mets play teams who struggle to get on base they’re 42-29 on the season. The Mets boast an explosive offense, led by the MLB’s RBI leader Pete Alonso, so expect the Mets to jump out and beat up on Yu Darvish. The Padres simply can’t match against Max Scherzer.
