NBA Finals Betting Preview: Top Five Players

The NBA finals are set with the Boston Celtics taking on the Golden State Warriors. With the series set to tip off on Thursday, let’s dive into some of the key players and where they rank in this series.

1.Stephen Curry
The three time champ and two time MVP has performed on this stage several times. While he doesn’t have a Finals MVP to his name, this year is as good as ever for Steph to go get it. The best shooter in the world has shown no signs of slowing down throughout this playoff run, averaging 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists per game. Curry’s all around skills and leadership on this experienced, yet somewhat young and new Warriors squad is what puts him at the top of this list.

2. Jayson Tatum
Tatum has proven himself to be a true superstar through this playoff run with the Boston Celtics. The 24 year old is averaging 27 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game. His defense has taken a tremendous leap, guarding players such as Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Jimmy Butler thus far in the postseason. Tatum is right there with Steph Curry in terms of shot making ability. Tatum can get the upper hand in basically any matchup that he’s facing, and is strong enough to drive inside for points as well. Tatum’s spot on this list has been earned through all eighteen playoff games the Celtics have played so far, as he’ll look to be their leader during the NBA Finals.

3. Jaylen Brown
Besides Stephen Curry and Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown is easily the best player in this series. His two way abilities make him a nightmare matchup on both sides of the ball. He’s often finds himself playing the two guard for Boston, which allows him to out muscle smaller defenders offensively, and attack big men off the switch. Besides the Celtics' defense, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown’s offensive firepower as a duo is what has led this team to the NBA Finals. Brown’s contributions will be crucial for the Celtics championship hopes.

4. Draymond Green
Draymond is by no means the most skilled player on either team, but he is arguably the most impactful. Green’s leadership on both sides of the ball is unmatched. He serves as a primary ball handler and facilitator for the ever explosive Warrior’s offense, and more often than not you’ll see him guarding the other team's best player. Draymond’s IQ and leadership abilities is what makes him such an impactful player. Expect a lot of noise and activity from Draymond Green this series.

T5. Klay Thompson T5. Marcus Smart
The fifth spot on this list is somewhat of a toss up. Klay Thompson when at his best is one of the best three and D players in the league, while Marcus Smart has proven he is the defensive player of the year for good reason. I’m placing these two in a tie because of Klay’s explosive offensive ability. Marcus Smart is the superior defender at this point in both players careers, but Klay’s ability to nail eight three point shots (or more) when hot is what keeps him on this list despite his past injuries.

Honorable Mentions: Andrew Wiggins (GS), Al Horford (BOS), Jordan Poole (GS)

Game 1 of the NBA Finals tips off in San Francisco on Thursday night at 9pm ET on ABC.
